From Me To You - A Poem by Mona Miller

Nine years of hardship, struggling with fear
Mostly shedding a lot of tears
Never did I know that a joy so dear
Would come my way through an Irish Volunteer

I’ve come to realize that people like you
Are like the soil of the earth, solid and true
Your hearts are as big as the open skies
So much love, compassion, yet without compromise

Shane, Oliver, Jerry, Fiona, Mike, did you know?
That every time I look at you my admiration grows
Looking at this new found joy called my house
Is worth every sacrifice that you have bestowed

I thank God for men and women like you
A special blessing came from heavens queue
When you go back across the oceans so far
Please keep my family in your thoughts, wherever you are.

Mona Miller.
